Thank you all for keeping us company by checking in on our blog. It has been five marvellous months, to say the least. When you travel like this, the urge to see more just becomes stronger and stronger. Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

So here we are. Our last stop. About 70 hours in aeroplanes, more than 8000 kms in cars, and countless hours in transit. But hey, it was well worth it! San Francisco is such a nice city, very different from the other places in the USA we have been to. It has a slight European feel to it. Not that there is anything wrong with 'American' cities but we sort of prefer walking around...

During our week in SF we have seen most of it: Alcatraz, Fishermans Wharf, Alamo Square, Golden Gate, Chinatown, Lombard Street, the cable cars, etc. We met up with one of Toni's old friends, Peter, who moved here about 6 months ago, to go see a major league baseball game. We also met up with Toni's cousin from San Diego who was in town to see his girlfriend.

That is our ten day road trip in a nutshell. We drove straight through the desert to sin city, where we spent two nights at Luxor together with our Swedish friend Ville. After Vegas we headed for Grand Canyon, and we were fortunate enough to get a room in the South Rim area (i.e. inside the park). After that we went to Bodie, the ghost town that was left deserted after the gold rush. The two last days were spent in a tent in Yosemite, watching deer, waterfalls and trying to spot bear.

Sights and sounds of San Diego

Two weeks have passed and we have been living large. Cruising between the mansions in Rancho Santa Fe and the oceanfront in La Jolla we have really enjoyed ourselves! Here are some photos from the beach in Del Mar, La Jolla, the lighthouse in Point Loma, and the WWII aircraft carrier Midway.

Tomorrow morning we are off to Las Vegas, thus the beginning of our ten day roadtrip.

A few hours in Mexico

We went across the border to eat at this Brazilian meat restaurant. Tijuana is exciting but it felt less alive than last time I (Toni) visited. The crowds were replaced by police officers and there was more tension on the streets. Without making bold statements about the socioeconomical in Mexico, one thing is certain: the contrast to wealthy San Diego is immense.
